Medical Care
- Home visits, including to nursing homes and nursing wards
- For conditions such as myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus, chronic pulmonary diseases, osteoporosis, chronic heart failure, and coronary heart disease (CHD), patient care is provided according to a structured treatment plan as part of disease management programmes (DMP).
Prevention
- Annual preventive check-up for men aged over 45
- Health check between the ages of 18 and 34 years once in a lifetime; from the age of 35, a health check is possible once every three years.
- Skin cancer screening from the age of 35 once every 2 years
- Medical examinations up to the age of 18 according to the Youth Employment Protection Act (authorisation forms can be obtained from the Residents’ Registration Office)
- Adolescent health check-up once between the ages of 11 and 14 years
- Paediatric check-ups
Individual Health Services
Numerous consultations, examinations and treatments are not covered by statutory health insurance. These include stress ECG, pulmonary function testing, additional health checks, PSA laboratory test related to men’s preventive care, driving licence medical examinations, travel vaccinations, sports fitness examinations, infusions, medical certificates, and consultations related to nutrition. Statutory health insurance only pays for these services if they are necessary due to an acute illness. The fee is calculated according to the official medical fee schedule (GOÄ) and is paid by the patient.
